Wilbur C. Hord, 91, of Newberry, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004 at his residence.
Born Jan. 17, 1913 in Tanner, he was the son of William Charles and Mamie (Hardisty) Hord. He was married to Wilma Mae (Clark) Hord, who passed away Sept. 20, 1981.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and an automotive supply dealer with Hord Auto Supply, retiring after 55 years. He belonged to the Indiana State Fox Hunter Association (Past President), Illinois & Indiana State Fox Hunter Association, Life Member of the Bloomfield American Legion Post 196, and the Elnora Outdoor Club.
Survivors include: four daughters, Betty Groomer of Newberry, Jackie Hayes of Newberry, Janice Picou of Bloomfield, and Deronda Howell of Newberry; one brother Alsie Hord of Greentown; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Mae (Clark) Hord, Sept. 20, 1981; two brothers, Earl and Russell Hord; three sisters, Madge Baker, Elaine Sherrow, and Clarice Lynch; and one great-grandchild Katrina McDonald.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home, Bloomfield with the Rev. Billy Ed Hostettler officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery, Bloomfield with graveside services by Bloomfield American Legion Post 196.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home.
