James "Jim" P. Hastings, 71, of Elnora, passed away at 12:28 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Born April 6, 1933 in Sandborn, he was the son of Hugh G. and Thelma M. (Troup) Hastings. He was married to Mary Helen (Robb) Hastings who passed away May 28, 2000.
He was a quality assurance manager for Hydro-Aire, Div. of Crane, retiring in 1997 and a member of Sandborn Christian Church.
Survivors include: one daughter Hope A. Hastings of Corunna, Mich.; one son Jeff P. Hastings of Carpinteria, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Beckie, Jordan, Nikki, Alison, Josh, Cailee and Kiarra; two brothers, Herbert Hastings of Sandborn and Larry Hastings of Owensboro, Ky.; three sisters, Margaret Moyer of Indianapolis, Virginia Pollert of New Whiteland, and Caroline Gaither of Sandborn; a sister-in-law Doris Hastings of Bloomfield; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Helen, a brother Vernon and twin sisters Martha and Marie.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Sandborn Cemetery with Scott Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Sandborn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Anderson-Poindexter Sandborn Chapel.
