Emma Viola Denny, 78, of Elnora passed away at 9:22 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 at Greene County General Hospital.
Born March 9, 1926 in Riverton, she was the daughter of John Hardin Criss and Isabella (Osborn) Criss Sinders. She was married to Clay F. Denny, who passed away on May 4, 1988.
She was a homemaker and worked at Linton-Stockton School as a custodian and on CETA in Linton. She was a member of the Worthington Baptist Church and loved gardening, hunting mushrooms and fishing.
Survivors include: four daughters, Harriet Walker of Palestine, Ill., Emma Mae Meek of Elnora, Georgia Bowersock of Worthington, and Clayette R. Heacox of Linton; two sons, Jim Denny of Lyons and John F. Denny of Newberry; two brothers, Charles Criss of Deputy and Harry Criss of Port Orange, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clay F. Denny; two daughters, Katie Louisa and Alice Marie Denny; one granddaughter Crystal Sullivan; three sisters, Sarah Orvold, Alice Flynn and Edna Richey; two brothers, Lester and Jess Criss; and two half-brothers, Melton and Bernerd Criss.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home Jasonville. Burial will be at Friendly Grove Cemetery at Lewis.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
