MARTINSVILLE ---- Leota June "Jeff" Jeffers, 86, of Martinsville, passed away at 4:04 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born Oct. 9, 1917 in Linton, she was the daughter of Harlen Edward Risher and Blanche (Booker) Risher.
She worked for Sears, Roebuck & Co. in Indianapolis for approximately 25 years before retiring in 1990 from Alrex Optical in Indianapolis after 10 years. She was a member of Martinsville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. She enjoyed playing cards, especially solitaire.
Survivors include: a son Wendell Paul "Butch" Jeffers of Greenwood; four daughters, Madonna Silvey and Eithyel Sandler, both of Indianapolis, Pansy Sue Densford of Greenwood and Beverly Jean Hornaday of Martinsville; 15 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 15 step great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; six step great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Larry Risher of South Carolina, Jimmy Risher of California, and Phil Risher of Oklahoma; and one sister Bonnie Hinson of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother Beulah Risher, a son David Eugene Jeffers, one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two brothers, Gerald and Lionel Risher, and two sisters Eloise Heald and Marilee Risher.
Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. today at Neal & Summers Mortuary, Martinsville, with Brother Michael Swan officiating. Cremation will follow.
Visitation was Tuesday from 4-8 p.m., and today from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
