Vacie Lorene (Campbell) Long, 91, of Bloomfield, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004 in Greenwood at the home of her son.
Born Aug. 12, 1913 in Galesburg, Ill., she was the daughter of Clarence Campbell and Lilly White Campbell. On Jan. 16, 1943, she married Gerald K. Long, who passed away Jan. 14, 1974.
After receiving her nurse's certificate from Home Hospital in Lafayette, she worked for Washington Hospital. She owned and managed Long Insurance Agency, retiring in the mid-1970s. She was a member of the Faith Christian Church Bloomfield. She enjoyed cooking, reading, Bible study and yard work.
Survivors include: two sons, Gerald Long and his wife Pam of Greenwood and Alfred Long and his wife Joyce, also of Greenwood; one daughter Patty and her husband Bruce Williams of Vevay; six grandchildren, Bryan Long of Bargersville, Michael Long of New Palestine, Christopher Long of Greenwood, Valerie Long of Greenwood, Patrick Williams of Vevay and Eric Williams of Vevay; two great-granddaughters, Megan Long and Erica Long, both of New Palestine; one sister Naomi Scott of Odon; and one brother Eldon Campbell of Elnora.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald K. Long, and two brothers, George Campbell and Eugene Campbell.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home Bloomfield with the Rev. Henry Mann, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Elnora.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home.
