MOORESVILLE ---- Hoyett Dale Grounds, 81, of Mooresville, passed away July 8, 2004 at his home.
Born Sept. 10 1922, he was the son of Earl and Elizabeth (Flack) Grounds. He married Carol A. (Marshall) Grounds on June 30, 1956.
He was a graduate from Indiana State University with a bachelor's degree in 1953 and received his master's degree in 1965. He worked at Indianapolis Public School 101 as an Industrial Arts Teacher from 1962 until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed flying aircraft and computers. He was honorably discharged from the Army Air Corp. in 1945 as a captain and flight instructor.
Survivors include: his wife Carol A. (Marshall) Grounds of Mooresville; one son Greg Dale Grounds of Brazil; one brother Billy Grounds of Chicago, Ill.; one sister Helen Griffith of Sebring, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Megan, James and Devon Grounds of Brazil.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Bonnevere Ellis and Judy Goss.
Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel in Mooresville with Pastor Rodney L. Craggs officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
