TIPTON ---- Thelma Marie (McCubbins) Burns, 96, of Tipton, passed away at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at her residence.
Born Dec. 16, 1907, in Hamilton County, she was the daughter of Ernest and Donna Ethel (Needam) McCubbins. She married Glen Burns in 1923 and he preceded her in death in 1983.
She had worked at Oakes Manufacturing and FMC, both in Tipton.
Survivors include: three daughters, Marjorie Pearson of Jasonville, Nancy Hancock and husband Robert of Anderson, and Shirley Canaday of Anderson; one son David Burns and wife Wilma of Atlanta, Ind.; three sisters, Nettie Langley of Tipton, Lena Rice of Tipton, and Phyllis J. Sharp of Elwood; one brother Leroy Owens of Tipton; grandchildren Ronald Pearson, Carla Raquet, and Steven Pearson of Linton, and 11 other grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Glen Burns; one daughter, Maxine Fritch; one son, Junior Burns; four sisters, Betty Senn, Margaret Holmes, Mary Miller and Wilma Jean Owens; two brothers, Phil Miller and Raymond McCubbins; one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, 216 W. Jefferson Street, Tipton, with the Rev. Jimmy Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
