James Earl Mason, 64, of Dugger, passed away at 4:19 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2004 at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born Dec. 1, 1939 in Sullivan County, he was the son of James Lewis and Freda (Reeves) Mason.
He was a retired miner, a member of Dugger Church of Christ, Dugger Masonic Lodge, Sullivan Elks Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute, and the Sullivan and Greene County Shrine Clubs.
Survivors include: his wife Carole (Anders) Mason, one son Robert Gene Mason and his wife Stacey of Linton; one daughter Jeanna Shields of Linton; one brother Mike Mason of Linton; a half sister Nikki (Mason) McCoy of Dugger; two grandchildren, Savannah and Garrett Mason; and very dear friends Dr. and Mrs. Fariborz Nasseri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Bertha Jo (Mason) Kendall, and a brother Billy Gene Mason.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with the Bro. J. B. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Dugger Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today with Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
