LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. ---- Max W. Markle, 76, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and formerly of Jasonville, passed away June 3, 2004 at Lawrenceburg.
Born May 8, 1928, he was the son of Ward "Pappy" and Donna Markle.
He was a graduate of the Switz City High School class of 1946. He attended New Prospect Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and was a lifelong member of Providence Baptist Church near Jasonville. He became a member of the Masonic Lodge in 1960 and after moving to Lawrenceburg, Tenn., in 1994, he then carried a dual membership by joining the Mimosa Lodge 542. He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star 103 and life member at the Lawrenceburg VFW. He served two years in the U.S. Army with most of his time being in Korea.
Survivors include: his wife of 41 years, Ruth Harlan Markle of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; one sister-in-law Gloria Harlan of Lawrenceburg; two brothers-in-law, Burt and his wife Jane Harlan of Lawrenceburg and Blackie and his wife Carole Austin of Lawrenceburg; two aunts, Marie and Joann Markle; several cousins; seven nieces; four nephews; two great-nieces and 11 great-nephews. He also had a special relationship with Shannon and Dotty Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Lois Coffey and one aunt Dorothy Helderman.
Funeral service is at 3 p.m. today at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville with the Rev. Harold Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery in Midland.
Friends called from 5-9 p.m. at Neal Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., on Saturday, and from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville, also one hour prior to service today.
