Jerry Lee Lechien, 62, of Linton, passed away at 3:35 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Sullivan County Community Hospital.
Born June 11, 1942 in Linton, he was the son of Emile and Wanetta (Stormes) Lechien. He married Carol Sue (Bledsoe) Lechien on Sept. 7, 1963.
He worked as an operator for Peabody Coal Company and had recently started his own business, J&S Excavating. He was a 1962 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School and was a 42-year member of the First Baptist Church in Linton where he recently served as a Deacon. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors include: his father of Linton; his wife Carol Sue Lechien of Linton; three daughters, Lisa Ferree and her husband Tim of Linton, Kathy Daugherty and her husband Todd of Spencer, Laura Lechien of Linton; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Brock, Kalaan and Blaine Ferree, Justine, Grant and Trent Daugherty, Whitney Yoder and McKinley Riegle; one great-granddaughter Ashlyn Ferree; two brothers Steve Lechien of Flowermound, Texas and Ron Lechien of Linton.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel with the Rev. David Tyra officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, and after noon until the time of service today.
