Vivian Sanders, 96, of Linton and formerly of Switz City, passed away at 2:05 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2004 at Terre Regional Hospital.
Born April 1, 1908 in Switz City, she was the daughter of Charles "CB" and Mary Olive (Clayton) Hollars.
She was a 1925 graduate of Switz City High School and a graduate of Indiana State University. She taught at Switz City Central High School and was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association. She was a lifetime member of the Switz City Baptist Church and a 75-year member of the Eastern Star. She lived in Switz City until 1961 when she moved to Florida. She returned to this area, moving to Linton, in 1985.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph "Red" Sanders on Sept. 21, 1990; a son, Stephen Lee Sanders, May 23, 1958; a brother, Charles Hollars; a sister, Mary Rogers; and her parents.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel with the Rev. Lyle Pittman officiating. Burial will follow at Switz City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, and at noon Sunday at the funeral home.
