Earnest Benjamin Holtsclaw, 83, of Bloomfield passed away 3:05 a.m. May 6, 2004 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born March 10, 1921 in Ridgeport, he was the son of Benjamin Wiley and Estella (Hardisty) Holtsclaw. He was married to Ruth Virginia (Thomson) Holtsclaw.
He retired from Crane NSWC in 1985, where he worked in the Transportation Department. A farmer before starting at Crane, he was also with the Civil Conservation Corps. He served in the Army during World War II. He was an avid rock collector.
Survivors include his wife Virginia (Thomson) Holtsclaw; one son, E. Leroy Holtsclaw of Athens, Ill.; two grandsons, Robert Benjamin Holtsclaw of Athens, Ill., and James Curtis Holtsclaw of Washington, Texas; two great-granddaughters; one sister, Viola G. Hecke of Fort Wayne; one brother-in-law, William Wesley Holtsclaw of Bloomfield; and his care-givers, Blake and Jackie Hutchinson of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by one infant son; two brothers, Paul Holtsclaw and Ivan Holtsclaw; and his parents.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with burial at Walnut Grove Cemetery Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. on Saturday until the hour of service at the funeral home.
