TERRE HAUTE ---- Carl K. Collins, 76, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 25 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
Born Oct. 6, 1927 in Petersburg, he was the son of Carl M. and Ruth Anna (Grable) Collins. He married Mary B. Apple on July 31, 1953.
He was a retired trim carpenter for Rick Jenkins Construction, Inc. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1947-51. He was a member of the Riley Masonic Lodge 390, F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine, Sullivan County Shrine Club, American Legion 328, Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Ducks Unlimited, a life member of VFW 972, and member of NRA. He had been fire chief for Honey Creek, was a golf ranger for Idle Creek for four years, and he loved fishing and golf.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, Thomas J. Collins and his wife, Janet Sue of Clinton; a daughter, Susan K. McKee and her husband Kirby D. of Linton; two brothers, Joe L. Collins of Jackson, Mich., and Ted L. Collins of Terre Haute; a sister, Ann Allen of Wilmington N.C.; three grandchildren, Kyle Collins of Bedford, Jared McKee of Linton and Steve Collins of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Friday at 10 a.m. at DeBaun Funeral Home of Terre Haute with Pastor Aaron Wheaton officiating. Entombment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Park with military gravesite service provided by Riley American Legion 328.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
