Doris L. (Hayes) Landry, 88, of Jasonville, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004 at her home.
Born April 10, 1916 in Jasonville, she was the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Lee) Hayes. On Feb. 11, 1945, she married Joseph Nelson Landry, who preceded her in death.
As a young woman, Doris worked at Studebaker in Mishawaka. She spent most of her life as a nurse's aid and private duty nurse. Her last working years were spent working for Green Thumb as a manicurist at Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Doris helped organize Head Start for Jasonville, was past president for Shakamak Band Boosters and served on the Greene County Poverty Board. She was a member of Lawton Street Christian Church of Jasonville and a member of the Wednesday Research Club. Besides her family, Doris loved the Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis L. and Jane Landry of Jasonville; five grandchildren, Kristopher and Brenda Landry of Jasonville, Gregory and Amy Landry of Jasonville, Drew Landry of Jasonville; one great- grandson Rylee Landry; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Joseph; two brothers, Lee Hayes and Chuck Hayes; one sister Dorothy Hayes.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville with Pastor Mark Messmer officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
