Frank W. Clayton, 86, of Bloomfield, passed away Friday, April 2, 2004 at 9:05 p.m. at Greene County General Hospital.
Born Oct. 13, 1917 in Linton, he was the son of Frank A. and Zella (Holmes) Clayton.
He was a retired railroad foreman from NSCW Crane and a member of the Koleen Methodist Church. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors include his wife, Aubrey (Burch) Clayton of Bloomfield; two sons, Darrell Clayton of Bloomfield and Dale Clayton of Gosport; two daughters, Virginia Scheer of Fort Majav, Ariz., and Joanne Haynes of Port O'Connor, Texas; two brothers, George Clayton of Liberty and Samuel Clayton of Kirksville; three sisters, Bertha Murphy of Vincennes and Ruby Baker of Emerald Isle, N.C., and Ruth Puett of Unionville; seven grandchildren; several step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; and three step great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, David Clayton; three brothers, John, Joe and Elza Ray Clayton; five sisters, Annabelle Hollars, Rose Bough, Viola Cullison, Helen Howell, and Melva Hoskins; and his parents.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Lloyd Swango officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeport Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday.
