Joan Margaret Booker Austin, 74, of Jasonville, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2004 at Sullivan Community Hospital in Sullivan.
Born Dec. 14, 1929 in Paxton, she was the daughter of Floyd and Olive (Moody) Booker.
She worked for Charles Industries in Jasonville, she was also a hairdresser for the Roots Store in Terre Haute, and a homemaker. She was a member of Lawton Street Christian Church for over 40 years, graduated from Carlisle High School in 1947, and graduated from Smart Appearance Beauty College in 1948.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Robert J. Austin, Sr., of Jasonville, whom she married on May 26, 1949; one daughter, Jane Landry and her husband Dennis of Jasonville; one son, Robert J. Austin, Jr., and his wife Karen of Middleburg, Fla.; one sister, Doris Wilber and husband Jim of Rochester; grandchildren, Kris Landry, Brenda Landry, Greg Landry, Amy Landry and Drew Landry, all of Jasonville, and Andrea and T.J. Nooney of Middleburg, Fla.; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, C. Lee Booker, and her parents.
Funeral service will be Monday at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville with Pastor Mark Messmer officiating. Burial will follow at Peavy Cemetery in Howesville.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday.
