Arline Wise, of Vero Beach, Fla., and formerly of Vicksburg and Indianapolis, passed away Friday, April 16, 2004 at Indian River Memorial Hospital in Vero Beach.
Born in Greene County, she was the daughter of John Sherman and Jessie (Sisson) Mitchell.
She received her undergraduate degree from Indiana State University in Terre Haute and her master's degree in library science from Butler University. She was a school teacher for 49 years at schools in Midland, Switz City and Indianapolis. She was a member of the Vero Beach First Baptist Church and the Retired Teacher's Association. She has resided in Florida for the last 20 years.
She is survived by a sister, Elinor Swaby, of Linton; two nieces, Jo Chiparo and Connie Sloan, both of Linton; six nephews, David Mitchell, John Mitchell, Ron Mitchell and Larry Mitchell, all of the Chicago area, Tony Mitchell, Lima, Ohio, and Mac Gardner, Southgate, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wise, in 1987; and four brothers, Max, Robert, James and Warren Mitchell.
Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with the Rev. David Tyra officiating.
