Marvin E. Taylor, 89, of Linton, passed away at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at Glenburn Home in Linton.
Born May 15, 1914 in Linton, he was the son of John R. "Port" and Chloe (Beasley) Taylor.
He began working at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton when he was a high school student in 1933. He and his wife, Freda were co-owners with Delmar and June Hasler of Welch & Cornett from 1965-76. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 560, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Columbian Chapter 140 of the Order of the Easter Star, and Elks Lodge 866, all of Linton. He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Jones and her husband Don of Linton; one son-in-law, John K. Wible of Sullivan; four grandchildren, Michael Jones of Linton and Beverly Westfall of Linton, John Wible of Valparaiso, and Garrick Wible of Louisville, Ky.; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda (Trinkle) Taylor, on Jan. 18, 2004; a daughter, Marlyas Wible; and his parents.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, Linton Chapel, with the Rev. David Tyra officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, and after 9 a.m. on Saturday.
