Alva Cox, 76, of Midland, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at the Heart Center of Indiana in Indianapolis.
He was born in Sullivan County on June 29, 1927 the son of Elva C. Cox and Reva M. Gambill Cox.
He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran; a night manager for Ellettsville IGA, and a member of American Legion Post 172 in Jasonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Johnny P. Cox.
He is survived by two sons, Rockie Cox and his wife Judy of Midland, and Stonie Cox and his wife Sonja of Jasonville; two daughters, Connie Bedwell and husband Harry of Linton, and Chelsea Caddell and husband Josh of Jasonville; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three nephews, Johnny, Billy, and Terry Cox.
Jasonville American Legion Post 172 will conduct a graveside service at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Antioch Cemetery near Dugger. Friends may call at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger from 5-8 p.m. today.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jasonville American Legion Post 172 scholarship fund.
