FRANKLIN ---- Irene E. Ranard, 99, of Franklin and formerly of Bloomington, passed away Wednesday evening at Franklin United Methodist Community.
Born March 11, 1905 in Richland Township, Bloomfield, she was the daughter of Albert H. and Eliza (Ray) Heaton.
She was employed in the Cancer Research Lab at Indiana University and was a housekeeper for J.A. Franklin, former treasurer of Indiana University. She was a member of Stoneybrook Community Church of God in Bloomington where she taught Sunday school for over 25 years to the first- and second-grade students.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Lorene (Ranard) and Bob Hendrix of Franklin; two granddaughters, Janeece Hendrix of Tulsa, Okla., and Teresa Noble, of Franklin; two grandsons, Gary Hendrix of Indianapolis and Jeffery Fleener of Bloomington; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mural C. Ranard, whom she married on Dec. 28, 1923; 5-year-old son, Kenny Mural on March 16, 1950; and a daughter, Frances Gayle Easterday on April 18, 1999.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel in Bloomington with the Rev. Stephen McCart officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 12:30-2 p.m.
