Donald Kenneth Russell, 72, of Linton, passed away Friday, April 23, 2004, at 4:26 a.m. at his residence.
Born March 24, 1932 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Kenneth N. and Alma (Lynch) Russell.
He was a 1950 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired 15 years ago after working as a brick mason for S&R Masonry in Linton and was a 50-year Gold Card Member of the Brick Layers & Allied Craftsman Local 4 of Terre Haute. He was a member of the Grace Gospel Church of Linton and an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife, Carol J. (Powers) Russell of Linton, whom he married on Feb. 4, 1959; four sons, Mark A. Russell of Kentucky, Kevin Russell and wife Tracy of Linton, Shawn Russell and wife Monica of Linton, and Timothy Russell and wife Lori of Linton; one daughter, Heather Russell-Rollins and husband Jim of Linton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Phil and Martha Russell and Jerry and Marilyn Russell, all of Linton; and 12 grandchildren, Justin, Seth, Matthew, Alyssa, Samantha, Joanna, Bickston, Stone, Amber, Krislyn, Hunter, and Jacob.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Norma J. (Russell) Menz-Brown; two infant sisters; and his parents.
Funeral service will be at Grace Gospel Church in Linton at 2 p.m. on Sunday with the Rev. Paul Sweet and Dustin Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, south of Linton, with military graveside rites being conducted by Linton American Legion Post 22.
Friends may call at Welch and Cornett Funeral Home, Linton Chapel, from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, and after 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the church Sunday.
