George M. Homewood, 83 of Linton, passed away at 6:30 a.m., today, March 2, at Linton Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born April 25, 1920 in Chicago, Ill. to George Bernard and Hannah O'Grady Homewood.
He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Central Christian Church in Washington, Ind., and worked for the Public Works Department at Crane.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Irene (Shipman) Homewood of Linton, whom he married on May 6, 1998; four step-sons, Mike Morgan of Linton, John Sherrill of Linton, Eric Sherrill of Linton and Jack Morgan of Huntingburg, Ind.; one step-daughter, Suzanne Tatlock of Linton; three grandchildren Leland Akers, Lisa Lett and Lori Goodpastor and 16 step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren; one brother Dan Werfelman, Mokena, Ill.; four sisters, Elaine Greenleif of Greenwood, Ill., LeVerne Mysker of Lansing, Ill., Delores Morrow, of Palos Heights, Ill and Joan Hinist of Winter Park, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daugter, one brother and his second wife, Delema Homewood.
Graveside service will be at Sugarland Cemetery in Washington at 1 p.m. on Thursday. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until noon on Thursday at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton. There will be a military service at the grave.
