Robert N. Lewis, Sr., 82, of Linton, passed away at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2004, at his residence in Linton.
Born Feb. 2, 1922, in Vicksburg, he was the son of Isaac and Alice Ida (Frye) Lewis.
He was an ordinance worker at Crane NWSC, retiring in 1972. He was of the Church of Christ faith. He was a 1942 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two sons: Robert N. Lewis, Jr. and Bill Maden, both of Linton; a daughter, Bobbie Thompson of Linton; a brother, Bennie Lewis of Linton; two sisters: Mary Barton and Charmon Weaver, both of Linton; five grandsons: Michael Lewis, Jody Lewis, Bill Maden, Jr., Robert Thompson and Bill Thompson; six granddaughters: Stacey Lewis, Jessee Lewis, Nancy Maden, Billy Jo Maden, Cathy Thompson and Carrie Thompson; and one great-grandson: Michael Lee Stremming.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith (Weaver) Lewis, who died Dec. 30, 1993; four brothers, Carl, Kenneth, Archie, and Avery Lewis; three sisters, Violet May, Una Dodd, and Dellamae Arthur; and his parents.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with his grandson, Jody Lewis, officiating.
The Linton American Legion Post 22 will conduct military graveside rites.
The Welch and Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
