Ralph Max "Peabud" McKim, 79, formerly of Sandborn, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2004, at 8:40 a.m. at Glenburn Home in Linton.
Born in Stafford Township, he was the son of Frank and Ona (Lucas) McKim.
He was retired from Sprinkle Grain Elevator in Sandborn, where he worked for 38 years. He was a member of the Sandborn United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge 866, American Legion, Sandborn Lions Club, Knights of Pythius, Sandborn Masonic Lodge 647 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, and Zorah Shrine. He was instrumental in forming the Sandborn Volunteer Fire Department, and was fire chief for 20 years for that department. He was known to play a couple of games of euchre using Marco rules.
Survivors include his wife, Dola Pearl (Ellis) McKim, whom he married on April 18, 1943; three sons, Eddie McKim and wife Holly of San Diego, Calif., Monty McKim and wife Stephanie of Sandborn, and Randall McKim and wife Debra of Raleigh, N.C.; one daughter, Pamela Lou McKim of Sanborn; nine grandchildren: Chris, Adam, Michael and Melissa McKim, Casi and Nicole Plummer, Monica Robinson and Amy Bragg; and one step-grandchild, Hannah Al Sodani; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Montavon of Orlando, Fla.
He was preceded in death his parents; three brothers, Paul, Robert and Fred McKim; and one sister, Madeline Lucas.
There will be a Masonic memorial service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Bryan Whitehead and the Rev. Tom T. Anderson officiating.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday. Military graveside rites and burial will follow at Sandborn Cemetery.
Donations in lieu of flowers are asked to be made to the Dr. David Mullis Scholarship and Larry Hyde Memorial Scholarship.
