TERRE HAUTE ---- Mary E. Hawkins, 80, of Terre Haute, died at 1:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at Vermillion Convalescent Center.
Born April 28, 1923 in Jasonville, she was the daughter of Herbert and Nellie (Dunning) Walters.
She retired as a secretary from Forrest Sherer Insurance. She was a longtime member, volunteer, and secretary at the Victory Christian Center, and she also taught Sunday School for more than 35 years at the church.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Fagg and her husband Leonard, of Clinton; one son, Joe Hawkins and his wife Melba, of Jamestown; four brothers, Jerry Eddy and his wife Betty, of Terre Haute, Bob Bonham and his wife Karen of Dugger, Lewis Bonham and his wife Sherry of Dugger, and Mike Bonham and his wife Phyllis of Dugger; three sisters, Phyllis Villain, Sandy Vaughn and Helen Land, all of Dugger; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hawkins, three sisters, one brother, and her parents.
Funeral service will be Monday, March 15, at 10 a.m. at the Callahan and Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th St., Terre Haute, with Pastor Jack Barnard officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday.
The family requests that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the American Cancer Society, 705 Putnam St., Terre Haute, Ind., 47802. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
