Mildred French, 88 of Galesburg, Ill., passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Feb. 3, 2004 in the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.
She was born Oct. 6, 1915 in Belleville, Ill. to Samuel and Matilda Hentschel Woodward. She married Goebel W. French on Sept. 17, 1941 in Perryville, Ohio.
She was a homemaker and graduated from New Athens High School. She lived in Galesburg since 1963.
She is survived by three sons, Larry W. French of Jackson, Mo., Jerry L. French of Linton and Michael A. French of Vernon Hills, Ill.; a stepson David L. French of Alexander City, Ala.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 27, 1989; one son James M. French in 2002; one stepdaughter, seven brothers and one sister.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg chapel with the Revs. Robert Malone and Jerry French officiating. Burial will be in the East Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30-8 p.m. on Friday at the chapel.
