HYMERA ---- The Rev. James "David" Swalls, 69, of Hymera, passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2004 at Regional Hospital int Terre Haute.
Born July 18, 1934 in Terre Haute, he was the son of Herman and Vernice (Hawkins) Swalls.
He was pastor of Hymera Independent Community Church, retired from Texas Gas, LLC, and a member of The New Creations Gospel Group, Hymera Ministerial Association, VP Greene Co. Gospel Music Association, a honorary member Hymera Ruritan, volunteer at Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Home, and organizer of community services in Hymera.
Survivors include his spouse, Ginger Alexander Swalls of Hymera; four sons and four daughters-in-law, Randall and wife Beth of Hymera, Jimbo and wife Nancy of Hymera, Jeffrey and wife Cheri of Bedford, and David "Baby" and wife Carissa of Hymera; one daugher and one son-in-law, Vikki Renee Bunch and husband Kirk of Elnora; two sisters, Edith Kearschner of Riley and Rachel Butler of Isabelle, IL.; three brothers, Daniel Swalls of Riley, Stephen Swalls and Carl Swalls, both of Terre Haute; four grandsons, Jeremy, Darrin, James, and Jacob; seven granddaughters, Bethany, Christina, Chelsea, Tabitha, MaKenzie, Tory, and Ashley; four great grandchildren, Kirsten, Jeremiah, Dillion, and Myra; several nieces and nephews, and special friends Cathy Jones and Eddie Bose.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Donald Wayne Swalls; two sisters, Norma Jones and Ophelia Lawrence, and granddaughter Amanda Lee Swalls.
Memorial service will be conducted at Hymera Independent Community Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Kathum officiating.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 -8 p.m.
Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
