Cleon Bowman, 84, of Linton, died at 10 a.m. Jan. 1, 2004, at his residence.
Born Sept. 7, 1919, in Midway, Ind., he was the son of Adam Bowman and Vena Ann (Gunn) Bowman.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II; a lineman and repairman for Indiana Bell Company with 36 years of service, retired. He attended Fellowship Baptist Church and was a life member and past commander of the Frank Courtney American Legion Post 22; a past Department Sgt.-at-Arms; past 7th District Vice-Commander, member of VFW 7118; BPOE 866, Loyal Order of the Moose 1434, all of Linton; and a member of the 40/8 of Bloomington.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Alexander of Linton; two grandchildren, Royce and Jolie Alexander, both of Linton; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cora Jean "Cork", and one brother.
The service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with the Rev. Dean Hartman officiating. Military services will be conducted by American Legion Post 22, VFW Post 7118 and the DAV Chapter 99. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home.
