Gary E. Arthur, 61, of Solsberry died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at his residence.
Born May 17, 1942, in Newark, he was the son of Earl "Wick" Arthur and Mabel Kiefner Arthur.
He worked as a stonecutter for Bybee Stone Company and was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Burton Woolery Post 18 in Bloomington, a charter member of the Citizen Flag Alliance, and a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Arthur; one son, Charles Davenport of Bloomington; three daughters, Terry Rentschler and Susan Harrison, both of Bloomfield, and Michelle Payne of Bloomington; three brothers, Verlin Shields of Linton, Wayne Arthur of Bloomfield and David Arthur of West Baden; one sister, Carolyn Rush of Bloomington; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. on Friday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel, 700 Gourley Pike, in Bloomington. Burial will be in Clear Creek Cemetery. The Veteran Honor Guard will conduct military graveside service.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday.
