DUGGER ---- Ronald DeWayne Smith, 64, of Carlisle and formerly of Gilmore, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 12:35 p.m. at Sullivan County Community Hospital.
Born March 4, 1939, in Sullivan County, he was the son of Laota and Grace Henderson Smith.
He was retired from General Electric in Linton. He attended Crossroads Community Church in Sullivan. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 721 and Past Patron of O.E.S. 482, both of Dugger.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Mary Steed Smith; two sons, Gary and wife Rita Jeanne Smith of Dugger, and Brent and wife Debbie Smith of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Kim and husband Jeff Figg of Sullivan; a brother, Don and wife Audra Smith of New Whiteland; 10 grandchildren, Ally Figg, Tyler Figg, Nikki Land, Justin Land, Courtney Smith, Jonathon Smith, Gabrielle Smith, Isaac Smith, Tristan Smith and Alexandra Smith; one great-grandson; two sisters-in-law, Nellie Smith and Mabel Smith; and one brother-in-law, Robert Steed of Lyford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Melissa Land; three sisters, Floetta Enochs, Lorene Robson and Marilyn Grube; two brothers, Larnel (Pete) Smith and Leoral Smith.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Newkirks Funeral Home in Dugger with Pastor Eddie Hammond officiating. Burial will be in Dugger Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Masonic services at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Schultz-Lewis Children's Home in Valparaiso, in honor of his grandson, Isaac, or to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
