WABASH ---- Sharla LeMoyne "Lee" Schafer Fulford, 67, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Born Jan. 31, 1936, in Linton, she was the daughter of Melvin Lee and Sabina Ruth (Burcham) Mathena.
She was a cashier at the Wabash Wal-Mart and had also worked in the snack bar for five years. She was a member of the Dora Christian Church and the Ladies Aid. She also served as deaconess, secretary and treasurer on the cookbook committee. She was also a member of the Ford Retractable Car Club Cruisers.
Survivors include her husband, Loren D. Fulford, whom she married April 12, 1963; a daughter, Michele Jean Schafer (Fred) Roach of Lafayette; a son, Charles Clayton (Lynne) Schafer of Lagro; five grandchildren, Trevor Loren Roach of Chicago, Corey Allen Roach of Columbus, Ohio, Derek Anthony Roach of Lafayette, Jill Anne Schafer of Indianapolis and Julie Lynne Schafer (Brian) Thompson of LaFontaine; a sister, Sharon (Glenn) Vannoy of North Olmstead, Ohio; two brothers, Michael Lee (Ada) Mathena of Athens, Ala., and Richard DeWayne Mathena of Dubois.
She was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Loren Fulford; daughters Leanna and Deanna Fulford, and her first husband, Charles Clayton Schafer.
Service was Jan. 3 in Wabash.
Preferred memorials may be sent to the Dora Christian Church Building fund.
The Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
