Elizabeth Blake, 88, of Carrier Mills, Ill., died Thursday, Jan. 15 at her residence.
Born May 9, 1915 in Sullivan County, she was the daughter of Jess and Rula (Gibbs) Meeks.
She retired from Starkey's Market in Carrier Mills in 1978 after working 18 years in the meat department.
She is survived by three daughters, Delice Felty, of Shawneetown, Ill., Arrawhanna Yates, of O'Fallon, Ill., and Delolia Maciel, of Redman, Wash; a son, Darwin Blake, of Summit, Ill.; one brother, Charles Meeks, of Chrisman, Ill.; a sister Pauline Bedwell, of Linton; a sister-in-law, Edith Blake, of Linton; a brother-in-law, Lawrence May, of Dugger; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Blake; three brothers, Rollie Meeks, Paul Meeks and Robert Meeks; and three sisters, Juanita Gray, Mabel Bell and Beverly May.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. today at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Jack Ham officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
