Louise Smith, 92, of Coal City, died on Saturday, Jan. 17 at Owen Valley Healthcare Facility.
Born Oct. 1, 1911 in Owen County, she was the daughter of John Madison Slough and Ada (Dyar) Slough.
The homemaker graduated from Coal City High School.
During World War II, she worked at the U.S. Naval Base in Williamsburg, Va, where her husband was stationed.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Max and Coleta Slough, of Linton, and Von and Madona Slough, of Coal City; two nieces, Jackie Lynn Harris and Alberta Clements; three nephews, Warren Ray Haviland, Ricky Earl Slough and Phil Slough; 12 great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great grand nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond A. Smith; three sisters, Fern Bucklew, Carrie Haviland, and Mary Helen Soeffing; one brother, Frank Slough; and one niece, Carl Ann McNew.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in Clay City with the Rev. Lyle Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Beech Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday and prior to the service Wednesday.
