William Clyde Sanburn, 85, of Solsberry, died at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at Bloomington Hospital.
Born April 21, 1918, in Greene County, he was the son of Harry and Nora Sanburn. He was a retired mail carrier, a member of the Liberty Church of Christ in Hendricksville, and a past member of the Monroe County Saddle Club during the construction of the new saddle barn. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in Africa and Italy. He had also been the owner-operator of the Pure Oil Station in Bloomington for several years and owner-operator of Sanburn Tire Sales on South Walnut St. in Bloomington. In later years he worked at Farm Bureau in Bloomington.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Evaleen Sanburn; a son, Larry Sanburn and daughter-in-law, Jill Sanburn; daughter, Kathy Gill and son-in-law, Danny Gill of Hendricksville; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel, 700 Gourley Pike, Bloomington, with the Revs. Keevin Gray and Warren VanDeventer officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. There will be a military graveside service by the Veteran's Honor Guard.
