BLOOMFIELD ---- Chester Junior Evans, 70, of Bloomfield, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at Bloomington Hospital.
Born Feb. 16, 1933, in Portland, Ind., he was the son of Chester Oliver and Lillian Farlow Evans.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Korean War. He was a policeman for the City Police Department of Baltimore, Md., and was retired. He also worked as a security guard at the Bloomington Hospital. He was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church in Bloomfield, the Bloomfield American Legion Post and the Bowling League at Fairplay Lanes in Bloomfield.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Heffernan) Evans; three daughters, Mary Patricia Wells of Bloomfield, Nancy Diane Donovan of Baltimore, Md., and Linda Eileen Welch of Bloomfield; a son, Douglas Arthur Evans of Bloomfield; a grandson whom he raised, Robert Michael Evans of Bloomfield; two sisters, Thelma Overla of Portland, Ind., and Diane Stanley of Indianapolis; granddaughters Heather Michele Wells of Bloomfield and Diane Marie Pucciarella of Baltimore, Md.; grandsons David Richard Evans and Patrick Michael Donovan, both of Baltimore, Md., Joseph Daniel Wells of Bloomfield, Matthew Christopher Evans and Michael James Evans, both of Ellettsville, Garrhett Michael Allen and Jordan Andrew Allen, both of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, MIchael C. Evans, and two sisters, Laverna Dale and Treva Evans.
Services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Bloomfield with Father Michael Madden officiating.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
