TERRE HAUTE ---- Jessie Elizabeth Roach, 94, of Terre Haute, and formerly of Venice, Fla., passed away at 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003.
Born April 14, 1909 in Huntington, Ind., she was the daughter of John Wesley and Cora (Kerns) Chambers.
She was a homemaker and had worked in a magnesium plant during World War II, as well as various other jobs. She was a member of Seelyville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Ernestine Baker and her husband, William E. Baker of Terre Haute and Lorraine York of North Port, Fla.; a brother, Martin Luther Chambers of Plymouth; brother-in-law, Vernon Roach of Bloomfield; sister-in-law, Doris Chambers of East Windsor, Conn.; eight grandchildren, Eugene Cherrington of Vancouver, Wash., Bonnie Butterworth of Oceanside, Calif., John Cherrington of Venice, Fla., Keth York of Port Charlotte, Fla., Becky Sikorski of Port Charlotte, Fla., Ronald Baker of Ralegh, N.C., Diana Warren of Terre Haute, and Anita Alabaugh of Terre Haute; 16 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Eugene Roach, in August 2002; four brothers; one sister; a grandson; and her parents.
Funeral service will be at Seelyville United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday with the Rev. Steve Bahrt officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery near Bloomfield.
Friends may call at the church Thursday from 9-11 a.m.
