Gilbert F. Myers, 78, Worthington, passed away at 7:03 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born Jan. 23, 1925 in Unionville, he was the son of Joseph Myers and Blanche (Meadows) Myers
He was a former police officer in both Lyons and Worthington, and also owned a furniture store in Marco. He was a member of the Worthington Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Worthington American Legion Post, Fraternal Order of Police and Wesleyan Methodist Church in Linton.
Survivors include one son, James Myers, Sr. of Switz City; two daughters, Sally Smith of Springville and Debbie VanDeventer of Bloomington; one brother, Leon Myers of Beverly Hills, Fla.; six grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June E. (Warner) Myers; one daughter, Nancy Jo Pierce; and one grandson, Gilbert H. Myers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Jenkins Funeral Home in Lyons with the Rev. Dallas Caplinger officiating. Burial will be in Marco Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from noon today until the time of service.
