Tressie A. Carpenter, 94, of Spencer, passed away at her residence Sunday.
Born May 28, 1909 in Bloomfield, she was the daughter of Charles and Daisy (Blaker) Helms.
She was a homemaker, of the Nazarene Faith, and attended the Whitehall Wesleyan Methodist Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Ruth Deckard of Spencer, Janet Alexander of Lewisville, Mildred Jean Crafton of New Palestine, and Zella Mae Brown of Carlsbad, N.M.; a son, Curtis Lee Carpenter of Martinsville; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.
She was proceded in death by her husband, George A. Carpenter in 1970; three sons, Charles George Carpenter, Austin Leo Carpenter, and Kenneth Dewayne Carpenter; a granddaughter, Cheryl Ann Brown; three brothers, Earl Helms, Argil Helms, and Virgil Helms; and four sisiters, Iva Miller, Geneva Selke, Ica Curtis, and Opal Maxwell.
Funeral service will be at Day Funeral Home on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Campbell and the Rev. Robert Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery near Bloomfield. Friends may call at Day Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
