Jerry L. Roby, 68, of Linton, passed away at 12 a.m., Friday, Sept. 12, 2003 at his residence.
Born March 15, 1935 in Oolitic, he was the son of Russell and Eva (Duncan) Roby.
He served during occupation of Germany 54/56 with the 5th infantry Div. Special Agent with U.S. Navel Intelligents from 1960-1982. He also served as investigator for the Greene County Prosecutor's Office, and was former chairman of the Greene County Child Protection team. He retired in 1982. He was a member of Saron United Church of Christ; Masonic Lodge 560 F&AM; Elks BPOE 3866; VFW Post 7118; and American Post 22. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include, one daughter, Leslie (Roby) and husband, Brian Stumbo of Lexington, Ky.; one son, Paul G. Roby of Linton; five grandchildren, Alex, Jamie and Will Stumbo, and McKenzie and Jeremiah Roby; one brother, Tom Roby of Virginia; one sister, Jacquelyn Royer of Brownsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara R. Smith on June 28, 2003, and his parents.
Funeral service will be at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel at 1 p.m. on Wednesday with the Rev. Max Slough officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Graveside service will be conducted by American Legion Post 22, VFW Post 7118 and DAV Chapter 99.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
