Robert W. Lucas, 72, of Linton, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003 at University Community Hospital in Tampa, Fla.
Born June 18, 1931 in Elliston, he was the son of Clarence "Dink" and Lena (Tanner) Lucas.
He was a coal miner and had worked in construction. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church; American Legion Post 22; Masonic Lodge 560 all of Linton; the United Mine Workers of America and Scottish Rite of Terre Haute. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife Leona M. (Duffroy) Lucas of Linton; two daughters, Linda Eslinger of Vicksburg and Carolyn Lucas of Indianapolis; two sons, Jay Lucas of Linton and Mark Lucas of Ellettsville; two brothers, Sam Lucas of Linton and Kenny Lucas of Bloomfield; one sister, Frances Walker of New Port Richey, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son; a brother, Bill Lucas; a sister, Marjorie Bledsoe; and his parents.
Funeral service will be at Fellowship Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Monday with the Revs. Warren Allen and Dean Hartman officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. on Sunday at Welch & Cornett Linton Chapel, and after 9 a.m. on Monday at the church.
Masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. The Linton American Legion will conduct military graveside services.
