LOOGOOTEE ---- Richard "Dick" Ader, 72, of Loogootee, passed away at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, from an auto accident in Lawrence County.
Born Feb. 6, 1931 in Lake County, he was the son of George Phillip and Beatrice Valade Ader.
He owned and operated Dick's Outboard Motors in Loogootee. He had worked for 30 years at Farm Bureau Co-Op West in Loogootee. He was a former member of the West Boggs Park Board; and former superintendent of the Martin County Highway Department; he was a Loogootee City Council member; and a member of the Martin County Solid Waste Board. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church; Moose Lodge; and the Loogootee Knights of Columbus. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Ader of Loogootee; six sons, Phillip A. Ader, Robert E. Ader, Brian T. Ader, James R. Ader, John S. Ader all of Loogootee, and Paul J. Ader of Sullivan; two brothers, Robert Ader of Valparaiso and Raymond Ader of Indianapolis; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at St. John Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW and American Legion.
Friends may call at the Brocksmith Funeral Home in Loogootee from 1-8 p.m. today, with prayer services at 6 p.m. followed by a K of C Memorial Service.
