Emery Edward "Buck" Porter, 75, of Solsberry, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003 at his residence.
Born Oct. 15, 1927 in Greene County, he was the son of Clarence and Goldie (Ooley) Porter.
He was a warehouse foreman for NWSC Crane and a member of Newark Pentecostal Church. He was a U.S. Army and U. S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Hamm) Porter of Solsberry; five sons, Eddie Porter, Jimmy Porter, Terry Porter all of Spencer; Tony Porter and Mike Porter, both of Solsberry; seven daughters, Donna Shaw of Solsberry; Diana Porter, Brenda Porter, and Tammie Garcia all of Bloomington; Connie Smith of Bloomfield; Debbie Medina of Bedford; and Lisa Rambo of Bowling Green, Ky.; three sisters, Dayle Hawkins and Betty Bailey, both of Owensburg, and Margaret Bex of Ellettsville; one brother, Jerry Porter of Ellettsville; 38 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Emery and infant son Tommy; two brothers, Emil and Kenneth; one sister, Berniece Sullivan; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at the Newark Pentecostal Church at 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Wayne Michael officiating. Burial will follow at the Newark Cemetery with military graveside services provided by Bloomfield American Legion Post #196.
Friends may call at the Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield from 2-8 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
