JASONVILLE ---- Donald W. Bickel, 70, of Jasonville, died at 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2003 at Greene County General Hospital.
He was born Jan. 15, 1933, the son of Laymon W. Bickel and Thelma M. Loden Bickel.
He was a retired carpenter, farmer, and salvage business operator. He was a lifelong member of the Coalmont Church of God; the Gideon International for 21 years; president of the Clay County Camp of Gideon International; and was active in Clay County politics for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy Bickel; five daughters, Donna and Jim Bradbury of Hymera, Diana and Kerry Mitchel of Jasonville, Nancy and Dennis Jones of Jasonville, Debbie and Steve Strahla of Jasonville and Cheryl and Jeff Reed of Indianapolis; two sons, Donnie Bickel and special friend Sherri Lannahan of Coalmont, and David Bickel and special friend Sandy Cazee of Jasonville; four brothers, Ed and Joan Bickel of Columbus, Jack and Wanda Bickel of Coalmont, Bill and Gudrun Bickel of Washington state, and Larry and Shirley Bickel of Columbus; 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Billy Turley.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 28, at the McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville with the Rev. Harold Thomas and Rev. J.F. Rehmel officiating. Burial will be at the K of P Cemetery in Hymera.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, and 9 a.m. until the hour of service Monday.
