William E. "Bill" Carr, 87, of Linton, passed away at 7:40 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2003, at his residence in Linton.
He was born Jan. 13, 1916, in Newberry, the son of William S. and Martha (Fines) Carr.
He worked as a superintendent for Gast Construction in Warsaw. He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 560, and Civitan, all of Linton, and the Zorah Shrine & Scottish Rite of Terre Haute.
Survivors include his wife, Frieda M. (Magner) Carr, whom he married Oct. 12, 1940; daughter, Arlene Carr of Pensacola, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law Gerald and Dedra Carr of Linton; brother, Bert Carr of Linton; sister, Naomi Woolwine of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Kathleen Kyle-Wright of Bloomington, Alison Kyle-Handel of Sacramento, Calif., Chris Carr of Linton, and David Carr of Linton; five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Olivia, and Luke Wright, and Emma and Lily Carr.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Fines and Curtis Carr; four sisters, Mary Collins, Ruth Whisler, Joanne Leigh, and Myrtle Shepherd; and his parents.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Welch & Cornett Linton Chapel, with the Rev. John Monroe officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, and after 9 a.m. on Saturday.
The family has suggested donations be made to the Linton Civitan through the funeral home.
