BLOOMFIELD ---- Peter L. Magni, 59, of rural Bloomfield passed away at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at his residence.
He was born May 26, 1944 in Indianapolis, the son of Rodney Gardner and Marjorie Owens. He retired from Crane in 1995. He had served as an umpire for the IHSAA and ASA. He was a member of American Legion Post 196 and the VFW Post, both in Bloomfield. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the Richland-Taylor Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene (Caplinger) Magni of Bloomfield; two daughters, Nanette and Greg Cunningham of Linton; and April and Todd Landis of Linton; one step-son, Donald Johnson, serving with the U.S. Navy in Washington state; one step-daughter, Chasity Puils of Bloomfield; six grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be 7 p.m. on Saturday at Haverly Mortuary in Mitchell, Ind., with the Rev. Steve Talpas officiating.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Saturday. Military rites will be at 6 p.m. Saturday by American Legion Post 196 of Bloomfield, at Haverly Mortuary in Mitchell.
