Warren Harding Onken, 85, of Mt. Sterling, KY and formerly of Linton, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2007 at Windsor Care Center.
He was born April 23 1922 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Frederick Ludwig and Lillian M. Onken.
He was publisher of the Mt. Sterling Advocate and formerly worked at the Linton Daily Citizen for many years.
A graduate of Duke University, he was a former Boy Scout leader and received the Silver Beaver Award; was a member of the Mt. Sterling Rotary Club, was a Paul Harris Fellow, served on the Mary Chiles Hospital Board, and was a member of the Ascension Episcopal Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Marjorie P. Onken of Mt. Sterling; a son, Warren H. Onken, Jr of Boulder, COl and a daughter, Susan Onken of Louisville.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ascension Episcopal Church with Fr. Michael Ralph officiating. Burial will be in Ascension Church Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity, the Boy Scouts of America, United Way or Ascension Episcopal Church.
