Lowell Brewer, 95, of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, Sept.20, 2007 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
Born June 30, 1912 in Clark Township, Indiana, he was the son of Harry H. and Derlin (Wheeling) Brewer.
He was a graduate of Clark Township High School where he played basketball during the Fuzzy Vandivier coaching era. He attended Depauw University. After college, he was involved in theater management at the Indiana, Circle, and Lyric Theaters. Later, he became a manufacturing and sales rep for RCA. He went on to become a factory rep in the clothing industry, opening two ladies apparel shops in Carmel before retiring in Greene County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bloomfield where he was instrumental in starting the food pantry program. He was a 50 year member of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge and a member of the Murat Shrine and Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite, both in Indianapolis. He was a Past President of the Women and Children's Apparel Association of Indiana.
He married Lorene (Anderson) Brewer on June 19, 1937 and she survives.
Other survivors include: daughter, Marsha Robinson of Franklin; son, Bill Brewer of New Albany; sister, Arleen Hobbs of Clearwater, FL; five grandchildren, Cindy (Scott Johnson) Lory, Kevin (Rita) Lory, Brady (Mandy) Lory, Dayna Ashley and David (Desiree) Brewer and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in passing by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Dale Brewer.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin with Rev. Larry McAdams officiating. Burial will be at Young's Creek Cemetery in Franklin.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Monday.
