Robert Allen Lindsey, 77, of Linton, died at 1:10 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2007, at the Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
He was born in Terre Haute on February 24, 1930, the son of Benjamin S. Lindsey, Jr. and Alice Veta (Allen) Lindsey.
He was a 1948 graduate of Woodruff High School in Peoria, IL, and attended Western Illinois University and Indiana State University. He retired from General Electric in Linton where he worked as an Industrial Planner and Safety Manager. He was a certified Lay Minister. He was a member of the Glenburn United Methodist Church of Linton, Terre Haute F & AM Lodge # 19, Terre Haute Court #25 Order of Amaranth, Terre Haute & Greene County Coin Clubs, the Train Collectors Association, & the Antique Car Club. He was at one time active with the Linton-Stockton Chess Club and the Boy Scouts for several years. He was published in the Train Collectors Association, Antique Toy World, & American Flyers Club magazines.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Margaret P. "Peg" (Harvey) Lindsey of Linton; two daughters, Linda Marie Lindsey of Terre Haute and Cheryl Lee Kuritz & husband, Tony, of Indianapolis; a son, Shannon Lewis Lindsey of Linton; and three sisters, Carol Anderson of Linton, Sharon Lucas and husband, Jim, of Brownsburg, and Ivy Lindsey of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Services will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, Linton Chapel at 11 a.m. Thursday with Reverend Max Slough officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at the Hull Cemetery in Terre Haute.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday.
