He was born Nov. 28, 1938 in Coal City and spent most of his adult life in Florida. He served four years with the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1959 and was employed by the St. Joe Paper Company in Port St. Joe, Florida for 35 years as a power plant operator before retiring. He gave many years to coaching and umpiring for the Dixie Youth League in Port St. Joe.
Survivors include his wife, Eldora L. Dunigan of White City, FL; his children, Rebecca (Wayne) Heller of Saucier, MS, Lynne (David) Rogers of Enterprise, AL, Debbie (Dusty) Stitt of White City, FL, Bill (Becky) Dunigan, Jr. of Lynn Haven, FL, and Gary (Andrea) Dunigan of Register, GA; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Sexton of Palmer, AK; two brothers, Darrell Dunigan of Worthington; and Birthal E. Dunigan, Jr. of Bloomfield; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Birthal E. Dunigan, Sr., his mother, Pauline Shoufler, and a brother, Doyle Dunigan.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 28 at Oak Grove Assembly of God Church in Port St. Joe, Florida. conducted by Rev. James Wiley and the Rev. David Fernandez. Interment followed in the family plot at the Holly Hill Cemetery.
