Edd Snyder, 83, a native of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at Hilton Head Regional Hospital.
He had lived on Hilton Head Island for 23 years.
A Naval aviator with Bombing Squadron 87 during World War II as a Dive Bomber; he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and other air medals.
After graduating from Butler University, he was employed as an engineer specializing in materials handling and power transmission in the Indianapolis and Cleveland Areas.
He was a member of the Bluffton United Methodist Church, the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis and the Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty; daughter, Jo Ellen Seay and son-in law, George Seay, of Frankfort, Kentucky; and their sons George and Ben Seay. He is also survived by his son Jon Snyder and daughter in-law Kim Snyder, of Columbus, Georgia, and their children Patti Jo, Sara Beth and Jon Adam Snyder.
Services will be at the Bluffton United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, followed by services at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC at 1 p.m.
The Island Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
